Author Laurence Gardner passed away two hours ago, after fighting a long illness. He was the author of many and extraordinary books, including the bestselling Bloodline of the Holy Grail, for which he received a UK Author of the Year award in 1997. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Laurence, he will be greatly missed!

With fantastic weather here we should not complain, but all the sports on tv do keep the tourists away. It is so quiet! Lots of accommodation is still free, so many last minute deals, and we also have renewed our page packages on our Barinca website. Through our company, Barinca Travel & Tourism, we can help you find accommodation, and we also offer wonderful guided tours in the southern parts of Languedoc-Roussillon & Midi-Pyrénées. This is the heartland of the Knights Templar, the Cathars, the Occitan Quest in the 13th century, but also Prehistory with stunning caves, cave paintings, artifacts and remains of the earliest Europeans! Occitania is unique! Check out our catalogue for inspiration!

Have a great vacation!

The trailer of the documentary about the Mystery of Rennes-le-Chateau is now on YouTube!

Work in progress on the Tour Magdala in Rennes-le-Chateau shows the placement of an iron band (similar to Pisa, Italy), to support the structure. There is a reduced entrance fee (3,50) because the Magdala Tower is, for this moment, not included in the visit of the Domaine. They are hoping to finish work within a few weeks.

They finally started to do the necessary repair work on the Tour Magdala in Rennes-le-Chateau.

The Domaine and museum will be closed for a few weeks in February.

Check the website of Rennes-le-Chateau (tourism) for all information.

Today is the big day, because today I launched this new website! PanOccitania.com was born from two old websites of mine, zuid-frankrijk.eu and languedocvakantie.nl. These will disappear in the course of 2010. With this new website I hope to be able to promote this unique part of France by giving as much information as possible. Therefore, this website will continue to grow.

If you have a holiday home in southern France, then we are happy to include your link on our webpage "accommodations" in return for a link exchange.

Many warm wishes from Occitania!
